“I love what Taleblazers does because it can make a huge difference for some of these young people by connecting them with the outdoors and new experiences that can help them find out what they’re good at and find themselves.”
After a brief career as a soldier, I’ve been an English teacher and senior leader in secondary schools for 22 years. I’ve always enjoyed working with people and helping them develop. I’ve also always loved the outdoors and have been involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and outdoor pursuits throughout my career. I know that conventional classrooms aren’t easy or even possible for some young people and there isn’t enough support or help for many less fortunate young people growing up. I love what Taleblazers does because it can make a huge difference for some of these young people by connecting them with the outdoors and new experiences that can help them find out what they’re good at and find themselves. This is what I hope and aim to help do.
Self-reflection and connecting with the natural world to find yourself.
Freedom to express themselves, opportunities to explore, some challenge and hands-on activities.
Running, road and mountain biking, trying to surf, walking and reading.
A beautiful view from a mountain top or hillside, preferably of the sea.
Bacon, eggs and fried tomatoes; peanut butter and jam on toast; running across a wild area completely alone; wild camping; bobbing up and down in the waves.l
Wasting time, long meetings, phone calls, emails, being stuck in traffic …
Never give up or ‘Nil desperandum’.
