There’s always a story. It’s all stories, really. The sun coming up every day is a story. Everything’s got a story in it. Change the story, change the world.

Terry Pratchett

Taleblazers helps to connect people with nature, storytelling, folklore and heritage. We believe that all of our lives are enriched by our connections with the world around us: with the natural world, wild places, and the stories and people that have shaped our communities.

We work in three key areas:

  • Alternative Education: We run a series of alternative education programmes for young people who, for a variety of reasons, are not attending full-time education. The programmes we offer are themed around the outdoors and include elements of outdoor education, conservation, art, heritage, folklore, art, science and storytelling, with the individual child always at the heart of our planning.
  • School Workshops: We offer a range of educational workshops that can be delivered either at school or at heritage sites. The programmes we offer are diverse and we can put together an exciting and engaging day based around any theme. Themes have included geology (including the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark), urban heritage and high street histories, and even road safety! We often partner with organisations such as Torre Abbey, Torbay Council and Creative Cullompton – please get in touch if you have a particular project in mind.
  • Community: As part of our mission to engage as many people as possible with our core themes, we run regular open days such as Earthworks (where anyone can come and spend some time learning woodland skills and conservation) and put together projects accessible by vulnerable groups and the wider community. We are based at Parkfield House in Paignton and are part of the Imagine This group of local youth-facing organisations.

Whatever your reason for visiting us – whether you are a student or teacher, parent or child, or just curious about our work – we hope you find enough here to want to be part of our story too.
