Lou Dart, Safeguarding Director

I’ve been a teacher since 1998! And have taught in so many different settings from London to Kathmandu, online and in person. SEND teaching is definitely where my heart lies as I love being able to meet a child exactly where they are and help them grow from there – although, even after all this time, they inevitably teach me more!

Lou has been an enthusiastic support of Taleblazers since we first started, and joined the team as a director in August 2024. She uses hear wealth of experience to provide advice and guidance and to the team and acts as Safeguarding Director. This means that if there is a concern that cannot be dealt with by the day-to-day safeguarding team, or if there is concern about one of our DSLs, Lou take responsibility for independent work and investigations.

If you have raised a concern that you do not feel has been addressed correctly, or if you have concerns about one of our DSLs, you may email Lou directly at lou.dart@taleblazers.org.uk.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Surfing, sailing and hanging out with my kids.

What is your favourite outdoor space?

I absolutely love being in water: from pools on Dartmoor (Tavy Cleave being a favourite) to the rivers running from the moors to sea swimming.

What’s your motto?

For everything there is a season.

It’s Taleblazers Karaoke Night. What are you singing?

I’m not cruel enough to inflict my singing on others!
