Primary Programmes

Our primary school interventions programmes are heavily focused on building relationships and providing positive learning experiences for the children we support. Primary children usually come to work with us on a 1-1 basis and so their programmes are highly tailored to their individual needs and interests, but children do not stop learning while on session with us. We aspire to academic achievement and we hope that every child will leave us having achieved at least one external award to demonstrate their progress.

We formally offer four programmes to primary children working with us and we are always looking to expand our offer in response to childrens’ needs.

Tifa’s Challenge

This is the award that we offer to all children who are working with us part of our alternative education programmes. Participants complete 12 challenges relating to the outdoors, and when they have completed them all they receive an award. The challenges are flexible and can be differentiated for the ability and age of the participant, and have been selected because they are all amazing ways to build relationships with children and young people. The award works particularly well as a 1-1 session and we highly recommend it for children and young people with attachment presentations.

Arts Award

We are very proud to be an Arts Award centre! Arts Award is a wonderful programme designed to inspire young people, encourage creative talents and develop leadership skills. We are currently offering the Discover and Explore levels as part of our alternative education provision and both these levels are available to primary children.

CREST Awards (Science)

CREST Awards are a fabulous national awards scheme managed by the British Science Association. They encourage young learners to be inquisitive around science and help to nurture independent learning skills. Each of these fun, engaging activities takes 45 minutes to an hour to complete and children completing eight activities will gain either a Star or SuperStar award.

John Muir Award

Children at KS2 may be eligible to take part in our John Muir Award, a more adventurous programme that gets children out exploring wild places around Torbay and south Devon.
