Parkfield House Walled Garden

We have been based at Parkfield House since January 2024, and we are proud to be one of the dynamic organisations helping it to become the community asset that Paignton deserves. We put some plans together to restore the walled garden and bring it back into community use, and we are delighted that our plans have been approved by the directors of People’s Parkfield. This is a huge responsibility and tremendously exciting, and we can’t wait to start making a difference.

The plans for the walled garden include creating 12 raised beds which will be available for community groups and organisations to use. We will plant espalier apples around the sides of the garden, grown and trained onto fixed wires, and we will include an area where young people can learn about composting, pollinators and the essentials of growing food. We also plan to include space for wildflowers, medicinal/folkloric plants, a herb garden and of course some social space where the community can get together.

Now we need some help!

We will be holding a series of open sessions on Monday afternoons where anyone can come and help us to develop the garden, starting with creating the raised beds which we plan to have ready to use by spring 2025. We’re happy to put on a bespoke session for any businesses or community groups who would like to come and help Foran afternoon! We’re also looking for anyone who can help us with funding, materials, plants or any other practical support. If you would like to come along or are able to help in any way, please drop Rich an email at rich@taleblazers.org.uk. We’d love to hear from you!
