Our school sessions can be delivered as half or full day programmes and are ideal topic hooks or curriculum days. We can provide suggestions on how any of these activities link to your curriculum delivery and are happy to customise any of our sessions to make them more relevant to your term plan. Please contact Rich at rich@taleblazers.org.uk if you have any questions or suggestions.

Cannot recommend highly enough! Our KS2 children were thoroughly ‘hooked’ into our learning experience of ‘Rocks’ through the use of the tremendous Toilet Roll of Time, bespoke learning based on our locality through time and hands on experience with a huge variety of rocks and geological equipment. Not only did our Y3s become totally engrossed in this topic but a few also voiced aspirations of becoming geologists in the future! Educational exploration which really brought learning to life.

‘Bedrock’ geology sessions
Learn what geologists do in this special Geopark-themed workshop. Our geologist will come in to school laden with rocks from all over the world – from volcanoes, coral reefs, deserts and even from deep inside the Earth’s mantle. Find out what is in a geologists kit bag and unroll the incredible Toilet Roll of Time to find out how old the rocks really are. We can even show you some of the dust that settled when the dinosaurs went extinct! We also bring a display of ancient fossils that the children can investigate up close and the children are welcome to handle the samples. We will also explore the geology of the English Riviera UNESCO Global Geopark and learn why geologists come form all over the world to study the rocks here.
We have partnered with Torre Abbey, who are passionate about sharing the power of storytelling to inspire children as they walk in the footsteps of the people who made history here. Forget virtual reality – we provide the real thing to make your teaching come alive.
Our workshops link Torre Abbey with your classroom studies, focussing on first-hand evidence while providing clear links with learning outcomes. We are currently offering trips linked to the Medieval and Tudor time periods and our themed packs include an introduction to the general history of the Abbey; all the information needed to prepare pupils for a visit. The worksheets demonstrate how, during their visit, pupils will exercise not only historical understanding but other key analytical skills.
Since summer 2023 we have been running a road safety programme on behalf of, and funded by, Torbay Council. We have put together a free road safety pack for schools to download and use themselves, plus the facilitation of some free workshops for Torbay primary schools. By the end of summer 2023 had run sessions in nine different schools with almost 1000 children in KS2 having benefitted from the workshops. The programme has been extended into the 2024-5 academic year thanks to Vision Zero South West who have continued the funding to allow us to visit every one of Torbay’s primary schools.
