History where it actually happened… that’s what we offer at Taleblazers. Come and explore a building that has witnessed events spanning 800 years with a pivotal role in the history of Torbay.
We have partnered with Torre Abbey, who are passionate about sharing the power of storytelling to inspire children as they walk in the footsteps of the people who made history here. Forget virtual reality – we provide the real thing to make your teaching come alive.
Our workshops link Torre Abbey with your classroom studies, focussing on first-hand evidence while providing clear links with learning outcomes. We are currently offering trips linked to the Medieval and Tudor time periods and our themed packs include an introduction to the general history of the Abbey; all the information needed to prepare pupils for a visit. The worksheets demonstrate how, during their visit, pupils will exercise not only historical understanding but other key analytical skills.
Our most popular workshop is the Spanish Armada, where we bring the story of the Armada and its connection with Torbay and the Spanish Barn to life with our unique workshop. We incorporate art and creativity, storytelling and an exploration of the Abbey – a fun, enthralling and most of all educational experience.

Swan innards for dinner, anyone?
Anyone…?
Giving the children a fun, memorable experience to enjoy is at the heart of what we do.
