We are now offering level 2 and level 3 leadership qualifications, accredited by the Leadership Skills Foundation.

L2 Assisting Lowland Expedition Leadership and

L3 Lowland Walk and Expedition Leadership

This qualifies the holder to lead groups of people on lowland walks and expeditions – perfect for young people who enjoy spending time outdoors, and for adults to demonstrate that they are competent outdoor leaders. These courses are a great way for you to formalise and develop your leadership skills. There is a strong focus on developing resilience, independence and other soft skills Our sessions run mainly in outdoor environments but the skills gained transfer into other areas of life. Course content includes:

  • Exploring wild places
  • Navigation and map-reading skills
  • Looking after yourself in the outdoors
  • Planning your own adventures
  • Camping
  • Outdoor cooking
  • Leading and supporting others

L3 Leading a Project for Positive Change (Environmental Leadership)

This course will empower learners to take positive action to improve their environment, including transferrable skills to catalyse change in their communities and beyond. The programme typically takes place in a practical environment, in our woodland on the edge of Torquay, with indoor elements led at our base at Parkfield House.

  • Working with positive tutors who are passionate about the environment
  • Practical sessions in our wonderful woodland on the edge of Torquay
  • Learn the leadership skills needed to run a successful project
  • Decide what environmental action you want to take – and do it!
  • Work as part of a team to plan and deliver your own environmental project
  • Evaluate your project and share it with the world!
